Taixing - a professional manufacturer of zinc borate for rubber, not only provides efficient halogen-free flame retardant and smoke suppression protection, but also aims to minimize the negative impact on dynamic mechanical properties. It is an ideal choice for cable sheaths, conveyor belts, sealing strips, and special rubber components.

Core strengths

·Guardian of dynamic performance: Optimized surface treatment technology ensures good compatibility with rubber molecular chains, significantly reducing damage to compression set, resilience, and fatigue life, which is the fundamental difference from ordinary fillers or flame retardants.

·Dual engine for flame retardancy and smoke suppression: During rubber combustion, it not only promotes the formation of a thermal insulation layer, but also significantly reduces the generation of toxic smoke, meeting strict smoke density standards in fields such as rail transit and construction (such as EN 45545, ASTM E662).

·Optimization of processing technology: Adjusting the Mooney viscosity and scorch time of the rubber material, improving mixing and extrusion processes, and providing certain metal oxide activation functions, which can partially replace zinc oxide in certain systems.

Mechanism of action

1. Mechanism of "flexible barrier" for rubber combustion characteristics

Rubber releases high heat during combustion and produces molten droplets or severe carbonization.

··The inherent high carbonization tendency of rubber combines with the catalytic effect of zinc borate to form a flexible and adhesive expanded carbon layer on the surface of the material. Unlike the hard and brittle carbon layer formed in traditional plastics, this "soft carbon layer" can better adapt to the deformation of the rubber matrix at high temperatures, is less prone to cracking and peeling, and thus provides long-lasting protection.

·Collaborative heat absorption: Collaborate with ATH/MDH to broaden the temperature range of heat absorption and decomposition, providing continuous cooling throughout the entire fire process.

2. The role of a "friendly participant" in the rubber vulcanization system

Unlike plastic processing, rubber formulations must consider vulcanization.

·Controllable effects on sulfurization kinetics: Partially replacing zinc oxide, providing zinc ions to participate in sulfurization reactions, but regulating reaction activity through surface treatment agents to avoid significantly shortening or prolonging coking time.

·Protecting the vulcanization network: Uniformly dispersed particles will not seriously hinder the cross-linking reaction of sulfur or peroxide free radicals, helping to form a more uniform cross-linking network, which is the key to maintaining low compression permanent deformation.

·Acidic neutralization: It can slightly neutralize certain flame retardants (such as phosphorus based) or acidic substances produced by rubber aging, which is beneficial for long-term thermal aging performance.

Application field

1. Application of Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) Rubber

·Typical products: building sealing strips, car sponge sealing strips, roof waterproofing membranes, halogen-free flame-retardant cable sheaths.

·Core challenge: After high filling ATH/MDH, the rubber material becomes hard, loses elasticity, and difficult to extrude; Need to pass UL94 HF-1, V-0 or EN 45545.

2. Nitrile rubber/chloroprene rubber (NBR/CR) application

·Typical products: oil resistant and flame-retardant conveyor belts, mining cable sheaths, fire hoses, industrial seals.

·Core challenge: striking a balance between oil resistance and flame retardancy; Suppress the toxic smoke generated during combustion; Maintain the physical properties after oil resistance.

3. Application of Silicone Rubber (MVQ)

·Typical products: New energy vehicle battery pack fireproof gasket, high-voltage insulator, flame-retardant thermal conductive gasket, fireproof sealing ring.

·Core challenge: Platinum catalyst poisoning; Ceramic strength at high temperatures (>500 ° C); Insulation properties of combustion residues.

4. Other universal rubbers (NR, SBR)

·Typical products: flame retardant carpet backing adhesive, conveyor belt, foam insulation material.

·Solution: Based on specific polarity, select R-E or R-N series as efficient synergists for ATH/MDH to enhance flame retardant efficiency and improve the process.

User Guide

1. Mixing process: It is recommended to add raw rubber, some fillers, and softeners together during the mother mixing stage to ensure sufficient shear force for optimal dispersion.

2. Pairing with vulcanization system: There is no need to adjust the dosage of vulcanization system, but it is recommended to conduct rheometer testing to confirm the burning and vulcanization time.

3. Alternative strategy: ATH/MDH, clay, or precipitated white carbon black can be replaced equally or partially. It is recommended to start with a substitution ratio of 10% and optimize based on performance testing results.

4. Safety: Like all powders, it is recommended to equip appropriate dust prevention measures during operation.
