With a similar flame-retardant mechanism to ATH, but with 110°C higher thermal stability, our magnesium hydroxide flame retardant is a highly efficient flame-retardant material, specifically including MDH-I, MDH III-3, and MDH III-10.
In addition to being used alone, MDH can be used in combination with other halogen-free flame retardants, and ATH can also be mixed with it to improve the flame retardant properties of various polymer systems and achieve better results.
Shandong Taixing New Materials Co., Ltd. provides a range of magnesium hydroxide products, from standard industrial grade to high purity, ultra-fine particle size, and surface modification.
Also, MDH-I and modified MDH type by stearic acid and silane
● Magnesium hydroxide is an environmentally friendly flame retardant. It is halogen-free and non-toxic, does not release highly toxic and corrosive hydrogen halide gas, and produces less smoke. It mainly achieves its flame-retardant effect through endothermic decomposition and physical isolation, rather than through gas-phase reaction.
● MDH itself does not produce a large amount of smoke when it decomposes. It can also decompose into water vapor, which is non-toxic and harmless. It dilutes the oxygen and combustible gases at the combustion site and has a smoke-suppressing effect.
● Compared to polymer processing temperatures, magnesium hydroxide has a higher decomposition temperature, which brings it high thermal stability and prevents premature decomposition, thus further avoiding the generation of bubbles and degradation in materials and final products.
● MDH has highly efficient flame retardant properties. As we have mentioned, the only volatile product it produces is water vapor, and the solid residue is magnesium oxide. These are respectively an inert gas and a stable inorganic substance, which can be diluted and form a flame-retardant protective layer.
● This flame-retardant material is strongly alkaline and will produce highly corrosive hydrogen halide gas in a fire. It is acidic, but through its acid neutralization effect, it will be converted into stable, harmless salts and water, further improving the safety of the flame-retardant process.
